AC Plans And Delivery Math

SPEAKER_05

I'm really looking forward to you getting air conditioning in here.

SPEAKER_01

It would be it'll be nice. I'm starting this week. Good. I'm gonna order supplies. I need to order I'm probably gonna have them deliver it just because it's so much easier than getting four byte sheets of stuff into one of our vehicles or renting it. That makes sense. Once you rent the trailer, all of a sudden you're about at the cost of delivery.

SPEAKER_05

You're gonna pick up cabinets.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, I need to do that. I guess. Ooh, I could do that at the same time. Because that will be a truck.

SPEAKER_05

I'd just get it. Is it gonna cost a lot more to get it delivered?

SPEAKER_01

70 bucks.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, okay. Yeah, I would use the truck then. That's a lot of dollars. I mean, it is, but if you're already gonna be driving through town with a box truck.

SPEAKER_01

I've forgotten that we had a box truck accessible to us. My ammat like I was imagining that I was either gonna have to rent a trailer or a vehicle, at which point you're like at least 40 bucks in on that.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you gotta check in on that.

SPEAKER_01

And then you don't have to drive it and do all the stuff. But I am supposed to pick up more cabinets, and that will be a good use. So heads up move.

SPEAKER_05

I know stuff. What are you what are you up to right over there? I can't use words.

SPEAKER_01

What are you doing over there on this podcast that we do?

SPEAKER_05

I'm telling you, yeah, I am it's like a moving target.

SPEAKER_01

My thoughts are.

SPEAKER_05

Like I feel like my brain. You remember the game where the little ball bounces around and it has to hit stuff?

SPEAKER_01

The brick?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Okay. That's how my brain is. My thoughts are the brick, and the ball just can't hit them.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

We're not got it. We're not making contact.

SPEAKER_01

I guess the bricks were the things up there. What was the was it a paddle that you moved and bounced? Okay. Got it. I was thinking that.

SPEAKER_05

I loved that game.

SPEAKER_01

I was thinking that was the brick, and I was like, what do you mean your thoughts are the thing that bounced the ball?

SPEAKER_05

No, I'm yeah, no, I think I made sense.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, you did.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I had the wrong, I wasn't thinking paddle.

The Chewed Straw Water Bottle Saga

SPEAKER_01

I was thinking.

SPEAKER_05

Uh devastating news this week.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Our child bit my uh straw top off of my brewmate.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, okay. Let me tell you, I thought that was headed to like they bit someone, or and I was like, oh no, did I not?

SPEAKER_05

I'm so sad about it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that's a bummer.

SPEAKER_05

And they don't have my color in the replacement lids.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And I Matt cut it off and like now it's a little stubby. Yeah, reconstructed it, and it's it's alright. It's working fine. But that was really devastating for me. I'm very attached to this water bottle.

SPEAKER_01

I'm surprised you got such a big chunk out of it.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah. Like, yeah. I think what happened is it was down where there is the hard part underneath the silicone.

SPEAKER_01

And so he just got a good bite into it.

SPEAKER_05

Got a good bite down on it.

SPEAKER_01

Kids are bad about that. People don't talk about that, but the straws on kids' cups, they get into chewing them, or at least our kids did.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then your cups end up being worthless because they've chewed all the straws.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you're just throwing everything away at that point.

SPEAKER_01

Because yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That's why it's better to have open cups.

SPEAKER_01

It's true.

SPEAKER_05

They do well with open cups. Yeah. And so we try to steer that way, which I believe is what they preach developmentally.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you want them to be able to handle an open cup. Yeah. It's either open cups or you end up moving them to actually real water bottles because all the little kid ones have ridiculous straws.

Turf Toe And SI Joint Pain

SPEAKER_05

Matt's in pain. He's having back issues and toe issues. Matt always has a broken toe. Just something to know about him.

SPEAKER_01

I had a broken toe for two years after our wedding. Yeah. It was it was fine. It wasn't bad, but it definitely that's when I was doing a lot of yoga too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't a sharp pain. It was just like a dull pain when I put a lot of pressure on it or walked on it in certain ways. And so I think I did have a fractured big toe.

SPEAKER_05

And then you're also experiencing back pain for maybe the first time ever.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I now feel old. It turns out it's not specifically, I mean it is back pain. It's sacral plane. Sacral pain. Sacral plane sounds like a ethereal thing. No, my yeah, I'm having SI joint, which is your sacrum. You have your pelvic bones, and then you have these big ligaments that really barely move, and they attach to your sacrum, I think. And those are the ligaments of mine that are strained or stressed or concerned. And so this mainly happens to pregnant women.

SPEAKER_05

Because you're and your lore continues.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yeah. I can't beat the allegations.

SPEAKER_05

I think in a past life you were a woman.

SPEAKER_01

Like the last one, the most recent one, and maybe all of the ones before that.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, no, honestly, all of them. I think in all of them.

SPEAKER_01

This is our first go at being a man.

SPEAKER_05

And this time they were like, you know what, you've been through enough, we'll make you a white man.

SPEAKER_01

See if you can make that work. And I'm not doing a good job.

SPEAKER_05

Well, but maybe maybe okay.

SPEAKER_01

We can call it progress, but I also think I'm just not I'm not taking full advantage of being a white man, you know?

SPEAKER_05

Totally. Not at all.

SPEAKER_01

The world's my oyster, and I'm not oystering.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know what you do with an oyster. You do not have typical white man presenting characteristics.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I have a lot of presenting ones, but not once you physically. Once I open my mouth or operate in the world, not as much as I have any right to, I guess.

SPEAKER_04

Crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I don't like that phrasing at all.

SPEAKER_04

Crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I'm I actually feel pretty good physically, but I have I'm just on the knife's edge.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The toe, I'm pretty sure, is basically turf toe. There's a big old ligament. Turf toe, by the way, which if you play fantasy football, you've had players that you're like, turf toe, surely they can play on it. Turf toe is a terrible description because it is you have this big ligament, I think, into your big toe, and it's especially when it's a higher grade turf toe, it's basically torn. You have your your big toe is useless, which when you do sports, that makes me nauseous. Yeah, it's it's bad. If they called it like yeah, work on that toe tear.

SPEAKER_05

Like even then, I think that we just don't take toes very seriously.

SPEAKER_01

That's true, you know? Yeah, a major foot ligament tear, that would a ligament tear, yeah. Put some respect on that.

SPEAKER_05

Put some respect on that turf toe, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah, you've been in pain.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. It's it's just walking and sometimes moving in specific directions with my back.

SPEAKER_05

Totally.

SPEAKER_01

That's it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, no big deal. You don't do that very much.

SPEAKER_01

So no. No, I've had to I've been moving like an old man. I have to like move my whole torso at the same time.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like you've gotten insight to sciatica and like what, not that it's the same, but they can be related.

SPEAKER_01

In fact, as it's gotten better, I've gotten some science I've I've had sciatica one other time. I don't remember why, or maybe there isn't a why, maybe it just happens, but so I'm feeling old this last two weeks.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And it's um oddly enough, I don't feel old for how bad my body hurts. So this weekend we feels outside of your

Building A Giant Slip And Slide

SPEAKER_05

age. Yeah, we celebrated big and we did a 2,000 square foot slip and slide.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's the most impressive way to describe it. It's a 20-foot by 100 foot long, like thick plastic tarp that we turned into a slip and slide.

SPEAKER_05

And you're saving it so that we can use it at another time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I need to clean it up. The hard part is you have to find a way to clean something that big and dry it because I don't want to put it away and it just turns into a mold factory.

SPEAKER_05

I will get back to you on that.

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_05

Uh but I really committed.

SPEAKER_01

You were doing it.

SPEAKER_05

Like, I was throwing my body on the ground. It's not surprising my ribs hurt because of how hard I was making impact.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um, what has really surprised me is how bad my triceps hurt.

SPEAKER_01

From what part do you think?

SPEAKER_05

I don't like clearly I was holding myself up as I was sliding, or and then I was probably pushing myself up to flip and turn around so I could be backwards.

SPEAKER_01

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_05

And stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that did make the entry like the landing point better.

SPEAKER_05

Like I was using my triceps way more than I thought I was because that my ribs and my triceps are what hurt so badly. Anyway, slip and slide, I really enjoyed it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And I made a TikTok about it. I'm gonna put it up on Instagram too. But if you're gonna do it, plan ahead, get a cheap drip line irrigation system because that's what I did. And for like 15 minutes of doing this little plastic tubing setup, you cannot run a big sprinkler for hours on end and flood your yard. The drip lines worked awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we didn't have a ton of water. No, it was kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's meant to do that, it's meant to put out a little bit of water just to water plants, and so it uses way fewer gallons.

SPEAKER_03

I need to get that in my butterfly garden like yesterday.

SPEAKER_01

That's the other bonus is I can now pull it apart and go put it in the butterfly garden.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

So that we don't have to because it's also hard to use a sprinkler there because it's so full. Yeah, you can't get water to what you want water to.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_01

But it worked perfectly for a slip and slide, and it has like 16 sprinkler heads, and you can just point them. If there's a dry spot, you just point it there, or you point one at the people watching and turn it into a mister. It's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it is awesome.

SPEAKER_01

It was, I think, a top-tier slip and slide.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we're gonna do it.

SPEAKER_01

We really did a great job.

SPEAKER_05

The kids were having a blast.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Perfect World, we should find a way that you can cushion the entry point, you know, where people initially land.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like you wouldn't get beat up at there's no way to do the whole slide, but if you could just give people a way to land and get their speed up, that'd be great.

SPEAKER_05

We had minimal injuries, so that was good.

SPEAKER_01

I think everybody felt terrible the next day because we're old. But nobody catastrophically injured. I cut myself cutting the tubing. That is what this is from.

SPEAKER_03

I did not know that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was going along. It's just like an exposed blade that you pinch, basically. It's a razor blade and a plastic pinch deal. And that's how you cut the tubing.

SPEAKER_05

Or your finger if you grab it wrong. Brilliant, brilliant.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We had a good weekend though.

SPEAKER_01

It was good.

SPEAKER_05

Big, busy.

Community Fourth Of July Feelings

SPEAKER_01

Celebrated the fourth.

SPEAKER_05

250, baby.

SPEAKER_01

250. Feels weird to celebrate the 4th of July right now.

SPEAKER_05

I I disagree. I feel like that's the sentiment.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And that's what I'm hearing a lot. But I am still rooting for the underdog.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. No, no, I also enjoy celebrating it and feeling patriotic. It just feels at odds of like, I I really hope it's what it can be and not what it is.

SPEAKER_05

And I think that being proud and really celebrating is a form of protest, of like, you know what I mean? Yeah. That's why I like it.

SPEAKER_01

Because we were we were wearing our red, white, and blue stuff, and we had a big flag that we put on the garage door that I forgot about this morning when I left. And so I opened the garage, it was pinched in the garage door. And then I opened the garage door this morning and it just like collapsed right there. I was like, oh, I gotta pick that up. Oops. Hey, it's not sacrilege because it gets lit up every night with the garage lights, you know? So it's it's co it's flag compliant. Now it did hit the ground today, so that's not ideal. But if not complying with flag code is the worst thing we're doing, we're crushing it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we are.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, you're not supposed to wear it either if you're being super strict about it.

SPEAKER_04

Totally.

SPEAKER_01

Which I am purely abide by.

SPEAKER_04

Totally.

SPEAKER_01

As a yeah, never mind. Enough said. I digress. I'll digress myself today. Yeah, but it was fun. We had a lot of fun. We had a bunch of people at our house and the slip and slide, and we tried to plan ahead some, but I don't feel like we went crazy prepping. I went really smoothly.

SPEAKER_05

Our friends really showed up. Like friends brought all the food and they cooked, and Matt had the girl ready, and we had the slip and slide, and everybody worked together. It felt very community oriented. It felt very village. It was as everything came together, and it was a lot of fun. Uh, what are you drinking today?

SPEAKER_01

I am drinking, I did restock our blooms, so I'm I'm on the ring.

SPEAKER_05

I just drink all the apple ones.

SPEAKER_01

Really? Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sad. That's fine. I can get more.

SPEAKER_05

I really like them.

SPEAKER_01

I I should just try and find two.

SPEAKER_05

I have a red, I have Red Bull in there too.

SPEAKER_01

Got it. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

So I don't need anything else. I have enough for the week.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. She yawns as she's talking about.

SPEAKER_05

You know, I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm not pregnant. That's immediately. I'm like, I've been. You've checked many times. I feel like I always have to say that because that's what people always immediately say. Yeah. But no, I've just, I feel like the summer has taken it out of me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And uh you left your soul in Nashville. Nashville. Oh.

SPEAKER_05

Uh, I am drinking water out of my broken brewmate.

SPEAKER_01

I have not been drinking enough water. That's been a big thing. I think I would feel better if I was drinking more water.

SPEAKER_05

Probably.

SPEAKER_01

So. Yeah, between my injuries and not drinking enough water, I feel like my general health is just in the garbage can.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, what the heck? We were doing so good there for a while.

SPEAKER_01

We were, and now it's really been in decline for weeks.

SPEAKER_05

Let's get back on.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. That's my plan. Okay. My plan is like once I can move my body safely, okay.

SPEAKER_05

Great.

SPEAKER_01

I'll recommit.

Celebrity Wedding Rumours And Hot Takes

SPEAKER_05

Huge week for the Chronically Online.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh.

SPEAKER_05

A lot has happened. Would you like me to get into it? Or are you ready for it?

SPEAKER_01

Launch right away.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Uh Travis and Taylor got married.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, at MSG, right?

SPEAKER_05

Uh, yeah. And that has been massive news. Do you have thoughts or opinions?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I don't know, and I haven't seen enough about it. That's my problem.

SPEAKER_05

I also don't have thoughts and opinions. I don't know. There's a lot of uh, you know, people are dissecting what information's out there a lot, but we don't have any information. It's all speculation, and like there are pictures of guests on their way from their hotels. Yeah. And other than that, there's no information, and there are people online being like, it's so tacky, the whole thing, this and that. And I'm like, all you I'm so confused.

SPEAKER_01

We don't know.

SPEAKER_05

We don't know. Yeah, I maybe you think huge weddings are tacky. I don't know. I just think that people have a lot of opinions, and I don't know that I really they're stimulating the economy, I guess. I yeah, I'm I'm happy for them. I hope they're happy. I hope they had fun.

SPEAKER_01

I just, if the ultra-wealthy are gonna be ultra wealthy, I'd rather they spend that money and it diverse into the diverse, disperse, disperse is what I was looking for.

SPEAKER_05

You were sounding kind of Love Island there for a moment.

SPEAKER_01

That's yeah. I've caught a couple episodes of that with you now. I don't really know what's going on, but I'm enjoying what I'm gathering. But yeah, I'd rather they spend it. I feel like MSG's a weird venue.

SPEAKER_05

I think though, from everything I've heard, that was the venue because they have secure in and out.

SPEAKER_01

Uh like nobody can see in.

SPEAKER_05

There's not a way for paparazzi to get in. They can there's underground parking, so they can drive in underground. Sure. And so there's no like I think it had to do with safety.

SPEAKER_01

It's in New York. Yeah. So central for a lot of people.

SPEAKER_05

It was a big wedding.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_05

And New York probably had the easiest access to the kind of security and help and all the things that they would need to put on an event like that.

SPEAKER_01

I just think it's an easy place probably to get a lot of people in.

SPEAKER_05

Right, that's true too.

SPEAKER_01

It's it it's a central hub. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

I mean it's spread out, but there's transitions.

SPEAKER_05

Do you know flights to Copenhagen from here are only $900?

SPEAKER_01

No. Why are we flying to Copenhagen?

SPEAKER_05

We're not. Um, I have a friend that's doing a big race there. And so I looked it up because I was like, should I fly? And surprise, you know? But it it doesn't work out with our schedule at all. But I was shocked at how inexpensive the flights were.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, we can go to Denmark.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Anyway, you know, just I hear it's lovely. Yeah. Uh other things that happened for the Chronicle Online, Hallie Kate got married at the courthouse. Halle Kate. She's an influencer, and she got married. I don't know, but people really enjoyed following along with that because there was no big wedding.

SPEAKER_01

Kind of the opposite of Madison Square Garden.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, kind of. Courthouse. Yeah. And then uh another thing that happened, Catherine Ebbs is going viral right now for being upset about. Well, she posted a video walking through a small town grocery store.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

They had put in an order at Sam's Club. Sam's Club canceled the order. They were traveling in for the 4th of July, so it meant that they had to go to the local small town grocery store to get their groceries and supplies the weekend of the fourth. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Where is this?

SPEAKER_05

Uh I I have no idea. No clue. Northeast, maybe?

SPEAKER_01

Northeast, got it.

SPEAKER_05

I don't actually know that. I I have no idea.

SPEAKER_01

This is the point of chronically online.

SPEAKER_05

Uh is me having no idea what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but it's it's just we're keeping abreast of it, kind of.

SPEAKER_05

No, but it's gone majorly. Like all kinds of people are like she's getting a lot of backlash. For why having an attitude toward the small town grocery store, like saying that the produce wasn't good, and I don't really I watched it and I again, when it comes to the internet, I always struggle because it's the internet. I just don't take anything that seriously. But people are really, really upset. And I, to some extent, get it. It just came across as out of touch, and also people are like, what did you expect a small town grocery store to be like?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Uh, but people are making follow-up videos that are going really viral. Like it has been a moment.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, got it.

SPEAKER_05

Those are my chronically online.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting. I mean, small town grocery stores, I mean, they can be hit or miss, but it also depends on what like grocery stores are so dependent on supply chain.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_01

It's where do you have access to things? How quickly can they get there? How important are you? Like, do you have the volume for people to commit the shipping and the transport? And then, of course, everything is more expensive if you don't. And people don't like that either. So I was curious if it was like, oh, everything's so expensive and not that good, or what?

SPEAKER_05

I honestly didn't watch the whole video because the moment that I catch wind of well, actually, the video didn't pop up for me at all. Sure. What happened was I got a video of somebody talking about it on my feed, which I don't get a ton of that. No. And I usually say not interested because I do not like getting into the controversy about people breaking down where creators have done or said something wrong. Not that that's not valuable. Totally. I just don't need it to be.

SPEAKER_01

It's a valid discussion. Totally.

Small Town Groceries And Food Deserts

SPEAKER_01

There's also a degree of is this critical? Is this something we have to dissect or are we choosing to dissect it?

SPEAKER_05

Yes. And anyway, it started a lot of really good conversations though with people about there is such a lack of acknowledgement and understanding of food deserts in the United States and how small town grocers are dying and it's making it really hard for most people to have access to produce and fresh foods. Yeah. And I thought I liked that part of it. I was like, this is really insightful and interesting and good that people are talking about it because I really do genuinely think unless you are living that you don't know about it.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's also we have such a weird relationship with food in this country because you can get fruits that are not seasonal or that are seasonal in any season here. You can get all kinds of things if you have access to a major grocer. And if you don't, there's a real chance you don't have access to all kinds of things, even if they are seasonally appropriate. It just depends on, and it's so profit-driven. And it's not like grocery stores can't be profit-driven, that's fine. But when we prioritize that over people's total access to nutrition and health and food, it's a little bit of the whole issue of privatization of stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Are we circling back to capitalism?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm trying to circle around it, but and not be like full-on socialist communist, because like that's not a system that has been proven to work. I think well-regulated capitalism is one of the best. People always talk about the northern uh like European countries and Nordic countries. They're very capitalist, they just have a very strong regulation and pro-individ, like they have really strong supports, social supports for people, and then they're very capitalist in terms of the market is the market, and the businesses are there to make money. But you have to have that backbone too.

SPEAKER_05

But there's a lot of regulation.

SPEAKER_01

Totally. People talk about them, they're like completely socialist and they're not.

SPEAKER_05

No. Well, I think that our idea of socialism has gotten a little lost on us. I saw A thing the other day that was talking about heaven. And when people talk about heaven, they're like, it's this place, and everything's free, and everybody's fed, and everywhere, everyone has a place to live, and it's nice for everybody. And like at the backbone, it's just describing a commune or a social society.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

It's too bad we can't have that here. It's a real shame.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's interesting. I don't know. I I don't I don't really like the way things have been branded and sold to people. Because I I don't think that again, like you said, I don't think that it's been proven to work in any kind of real capacity. I think people there will always be people be people driven for power.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, absolutely. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And so there when you rely on everybody participating in the system and not taking advantage of one another, it never works, you know?

SPEAKER_01

There's no good way over the long run to completely eliminate greed and grift and cronyism. And we've learned that in the hard way here.

SPEAKER_05

But I feel like we are in the the generation of the grifter.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, we're we're really doing it. At least at least the modern era, because uh people were grifty, super grifty back in the day, but you just you know newspaper was like like the 20s and stuff. Really?

SPEAKER_05

But there was just what was the 20s of grift?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, probably all the same stuff, just nobody could know about it. There was um some of it is just as like wealth gets stratified, it kind of always flows up, but when too much of it gets up there, that's when revolutions happen or crashes or dramatic shifts.

SPEAKER_05

Do you think the United States population is capable of a revolution?

SPEAKER_01

Like a violent military revolution? Any kind of revolution, any kind of revolution.

SPEAKER_05

I think hot take, I don't currently.

SPEAKER_01

Yes and no. Not an organized all-for-one revolution, but I do think there is a kind of push comes to shove. And if there was like look at Ukraine. Ukraine was invaded by Russia. Before they were invaded by Russia, there's polls that show they didn't think it was gonna come to that. They didn't think that they would be able to band together and do all those things. I think in the United States, people would come together in a truly catastrophic event. Think you're post-9-11 time outside of that, it's really tough to organize. But I I think at the core, there's a lot of good people that I agree would stand by things.

SPEAKER_05

I think there are a lot of really good people, but I think that the messaging is so lost. Yeah, people don't know how to come together and execute any kind of action. And I think that we have lost a lot of our processes and abilities through technology and conveniences in the name of convenience.

SPEAKER_01

We're very comfortable and we don't accept discomfort. I d I think I had a whole 10 minutes. I talked last week about how that's my current journey right now, is working on being uncomfortable and being present in that. But we have that as an entire society. Like if you look at the war in Iran, the moment gas prices went up, and it's not to say that that's not a stressful thing or harmful thing, but on the other side, their country was being bombed, and they're like, Well, we're we're dug in here. They were faced with a end of days option, and they fought through it. We we don't have that dog in us, so to speak, and we are not used to discomfort. And so the moment we had discomfort, we're like, nah. And I'm not saying we should stay there or anything like that, but that's the fight you start.

SPEAKER_05

We're weak.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. We I mean, we've we've become comfortable and safe to the point where we are weak.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

For those kind of things. And I don't want us to find out how to be strong again, like the the hard way, but it's just the reality of it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's just the cycle of things.

SPEAKER_05

Chronically online has taken a weird pivot this week.

SPEAKER_01

Weirdly political, but like philosophically political. It's very it's a lofty episode. Yeah. We've really gotten and we we're not knowledgeable enough to actually do this conversation correctly. You are. I I gather bits and bytes.

SPEAKER_05

And if you feel like that, we know I shouldn't be on a mic. I have no idea what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's good. It's good.

SPEAKER_05

Well, on that note, yeah. Do you have a bad dad, mean mom?

SPEAKER_01

Bad dad, mean mom.

Sunscreen Mistakes And Skin Cancer Talk

SPEAKER_05

I have mean mom this week, and it's that mom took us to the pool. Mom applied sunscreen all over everywhere. Mom let us wear goggles too soon.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_05

And so our children have little stripes right where the bottom of their goggles go on their eyes.

SPEAKER_01

The old cheekbones that got sunburnt.

SPEAKER_05

Not bad, not anything severe, but I felt really bad.

SPEAKER_01

It's not a great place to be sunburned, but they they made through.

SPEAKER_05

I know it was fine. After 24 hours, it was fine. It wasn't like to the point that anybody's peeling or like.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they weren't blistered or anything.

SPEAKER_05

It was not uh severe, but I am really, really, really adamant about sunscreen, and I work really hard for the kids to always be adequately sunscreened.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So that they are not experiencing that.

SPEAKER_01

Not me. I'm trying to bronze them up. I'm trying to get them like on Baywatch or something.

SPEAKER_04

That's creepy. No.

SPEAKER_01

No, just kidding. I've I've learned a lot more about sunscreen since having kids.

SPEAKER_04

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Tell me more.

SPEAKER_01

Just I was not a good sunscreen wearer. I'm still not a great sunscreen wearer, but I wear it a lot more than I used to. I used to be kind of anti-sunscreen, which is kind of on brand for my family.

SPEAKER_05

They're yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They they like to suffer and then advertise it.

SPEAKER_05

I've always been team sunscreen.

SPEAKER_01

You have. You've you were in sunscreen. You were pro sunscreen when it was very not cool to be pro-sunscreen.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

When everybody was going to tanning beds, you were pro-sunscreen.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, that's just I don't like being burnt. Well, everybody else was pretending they did.

SPEAKER_05

I uh I don't, it's horrible.

SPEAKER_01

You were marching to the beat of your own drummer. I was amongst the people that were like, no, I like being tan and burned.

SPEAKER_05

But I do feel like I still get tan.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you do.

SPEAKER_05

But it's just slower.

SPEAKER_01

Very slow. The rest of us like to do it in one shot, and we like it to peel.

SPEAKER_05

And then have it peel off in chunks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You want to be like a flaky person for two to three weeks, and then somewhere under there, the tan comes up.

SPEAKER_05

Bronze goddess.

SPEAKER_01

And also probably skin cancer, but you know.

SPEAKER_05

I'm prone to skin cancer in my family, so that's part of it too. I think I've been very adamant.

SPEAKER_01

I think we're pretty we're not too bad skin cancer-wise.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I we're bad.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Well, that's good. Wait a stand on time.

SPEAKER_05

My sister's already had it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_05

My dad's had all kinds of things removed, like, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yikes.

SPEAKER_05

Yikes.

SPEAKER_01

That's not what you want.

SPEAKER_05

It's not what you want. And so I've always been a crazy with the sunscreen.

SPEAKER_01

You have ever since I've known you. You were you were sunscreen in the world.

SPEAKER_05

But you met me when I was what, 15?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, 15, 16. And that's like I said, just not you were marching the beat of your own drummer.

SPEAKER_05

I was.

SPEAKER_01

So you want to learn a word of the week?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, why do you say beat of your own drummer?

SPEAKER_01

To the beat of your own drummer? To the beat of your own drum?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I just don't think the drum plays itself, I guess. I don't know. I've said a lot of things this episode that I'm like, well, that's 10% off. Oops.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, word

Word Of The Week Titty Nope

SPEAKER_05

of the week.

SPEAKER_01

Word of the week. Do you want? Hmm. I've got two options. I've been enjoying giving you options. We have titty nope.

SPEAKER_05

Titty nope?

SPEAKER_01

Titty-nope. Or biblioclept.

SPEAKER_05

Titty nope.

SPEAKER_01

Titty nope. A small quantity of something left over. So there's only a titty nope of milk left in the carton.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Now that I'm thinking about it, I feel like I don't want to want our kids to pick up on this word. No. It's just like it's gonna be weird if they use it.

SPEAKER_05

There's just a titty nope in there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just a titty nope. But I think it's useful. I kind of really like it. It describes that almost empty. It's like a useless amount.

SPEAKER_05

There's just a titty nope of applesauce. So put that on the list.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a useless amount, but it's still there.

SPEAKER_05

There's just a titty nope of peanut butter, so that definitely needs to go on the list.

SPEAKER_01

You're nailing it. This is perfect.

SPEAKER_05

I can't wait.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Titty nope. How do you spell it? Um T-I-T-T-I.

SPEAKER_01

Why? Straight up titty.

SPEAKER_05

Nope.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_05

T-I-T-T-Y-N-O-P.

SPEAKER_01

Straight up titty nope. It's a good one, huh?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's spectacular.

SPEAKER_01

So I thought you'd enjoy that one.

SPEAKER_05

Titty nope.

SPEAKER_01

Titty nope.

SPEAKER_05

Is that real?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. You're not just.

SPEAKER_01

You're worried it's like a Google hallucination.

SPEAKER_05

No, I'm worried that it's you being like, what can I convince her as a word? It's like a bit, you're not going to be a good one.

SPEAKER_01

I'm doing like Baldur Dash, but in real life, I'm just slowly gaslighting you and yeah, that's hysterical.

SPEAKER_05

Like a whole new language.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, over the course of the episodes, I just am teaching you words that aren't real.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That'd be good. That'd be so funny. No. It's uh that's not very like your MO, but no, no, but I'm now that it's a bit, I feel like I'm so tempted to try it, but now you've we've laid it out too much.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you're right, you're right.

SPEAKER_01

I'll have to find a different long con. But yeah, titty open, it's archaic. Like it's not obviously you've never seen it before, but it exists.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, voicemails, emails, what do we got? What do we got?

SPEAKER_01

Let's give them something to talk about. Let's kick it off with an email. It's a long one, so it may be better suited for you. I also feel like it helps you to be able to read it and have it in front of you.

SPEAKER_05

I I want people's feedback on this. I think that, and this might be because it's my own voice, but I think that I have a better reading inflection, like the way that I start and stop and read sentences.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, then me? Yeah. I get sped up. Well, I start trying to snap through it.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like you also, like where there are periods and commas, and like none of that is reflected in your vocals at all.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I start to feel like I'm getting behind, and I just start reading words without quite the the right tone. I think the large walls of text really start to stress me out.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

Family Boundaries With Religious Relatives

SPEAKER_05

I have a pretty big issue in my life that I'm finally deciding to get your opinion on. I have a very small family, my mom, grandma, and half-sister, and her family, which includes my four nephews and one niece. I've always been very close to my nephews and niece, especially since I don't have children. The problem stems that my sister, the problem stems from my sister being extremely religious. This has been going on for at least 15 years, and I'm 33. But here are some key points. They are very outspokenly anti-gay, and two of my best friends are gay. They are always making racist remarks. They consider me very evil because I studied history in college, meaning I read and trust sources other than the Bible. They say I am full of demons because I grieved the loss of my father and would not have been sad if I had Jesus in my heart. I haven't been trusted to be alone with my niece and nephew who are under 13 for a while, but now they can't come to my house at all after a liquid death drink was spotted. The younger children make me question if I should keep fighting to be in their life. My mom says they need me, but ultimately I realize that their parents have a right to raise them how they want, and they are not my children. It's hard to have a relationship, and the sadness I feel is taking a toll on me. I've taken a big step back, but do I just count my losses and completely step out? They can't come to my house, and if I go to theirs, I have a literal exorcism performed on me. Plus, I don't want the children to think that I think being anti-gay or racist is acceptable. So I don't really feel like I can be present but silent. I also don't want the young ones to think I'm ghosting them, but I don't want to say anything about their parents that could be perceived as negative. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Cool. Wow. We've I mean, we have varying levels of religious people in our lives, but I have not had a lot of experience with people that are outspokenly racist, sexist.

SPEAKER_05

No, because I feel like most of the people in our lives that are religious actually practice their religion.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. I mean, that's the other part, too.

SPEAKER_05

We have a lot of very conservative and religious people in our lives. We have a lot of not too. You know, we have we have all kinds of different people in our lives. And it's something that I really love, but I do feel like everyone we hang out with practices Christianity.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I don't ever think that behaving in the ways that you've said is a very good representation of what Christianity.

SPEAKER_01

I'd say most of the New Testament flies in the face of being quite literally hateful to groups.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Jesus' whole thing is like he went around and hung out with not the acceptable people in society and was merciful and kind and generous.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_01

If you're gonna go ahead and like dig in the old testament for the handful of verses that can be kind of interpreted against people, okay.

SPEAKER_05

We had friends that told us crazy stories this weekend.

SPEAKER_01

But oh my gosh, speaking of, like you shouldn't be using the old testament for anything.

SPEAKER_05

I just can't believe what people are what they're willing to say in front of people's faces shocks me and it makes me absolutely nauseated thinking about what they're saying behind closed doors, then.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I it bothers me because people like to find these individual verses. They're not always using the best translations either, they're using things that have been interpreted over and over and over again. So it's not it, they're not reading anything in the original, even Hebrew. I don't I forget what it was before, but there's it's been translated a lot, it's been used and twisted a lot, and then they're going and finding one verse that supports it and ignoring entire books about how you should be kind and loving and generous. And there's lots of stuff out there about that. And we just go we're gonna go ahead and skip over that and we're gonna use this one thing to be hateful. That's what sucks. If it's having these kind of impacts on you, it's really hard to say, yeah, you should stick around and suffer. That's totally an okay place to be.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think that does anything for the kids for you to stick around and suffer. Uh, because when you're not there, they're getting an earful of all of that anyway. I think it's better off to always be kind, always show up where you f feel comfortable showing up, and let those kids know that the door's always open if they need anything. And beyond that, it's what it is.

SPEAKER_01

Because yeah, they're gonna continue in their life and they're gonna end up in situations that are gonna challenge some of the ideas that they've seen, hopefully. And it's better to be the safe option that they know is there or that they can hopefully reach out to you, but you you're probably not having enough of an impact on a day-to-day basis, nor should you be killing yourself to do so because you're you're fighting an uphill battle, and if they're in that younger age where they're really highly influenceable, they're being poisoned against you, so to speak.

SPEAKER_03

That feels it feels really dramatic.

SPEAKER_01

I don't have a better phrase for it, and I don't mean it with that.

SPEAKER_05

And I don't even necessarily they're being biased, they're being like pre-biased against like their crazy I don't disagree with you, like that is also my personal opinion, but I all you know how you and I both try so hard to not demonize the either other people's beliefs. Yeah, and I think where it comes in that it's a problem is when you have people speaking of you the way that you're clearly being spoken about.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. When it's when it's used for hate, yeah. Because that is not the lesson of most religions. I don't know of any religion, mainstream religion, that is centered around hate. It's almost always about generosity and helping people and living in a kind society.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So good luck, but yeah, I think you probably have to that that's extreme. That's extreme.

SPEAKER_05

Cut ties, but leave the door open for the kiddos when they are ready to explore a relationship on their own.

SPEAKER_01

Because at some point they're gonna grow up and they're gonna have to be in a world that is, I guess, filled with the devil. But yeah that may not go as smoothly as a family hopes. Good luck. Godspeed. We've now got a voicemail.

Blood Donation Facts And A Listener Correction

SPEAKER_01

You ready?

SPEAKER_02

I'm ready. Hi, Joe and Matt. Um, big fan here, avid listener, and also a supervisor of a blood bank in a small community hospital. I'm so glad you brought up the topic of donation this week. It is so important, and I'm so glad that you guys um take an interest to go out there, you know, look around for blood drives in your area. You can always go on the American Red Cross website, but that's a great thing to advocate for and bring up on the pod. So good job, guys. Um, but this is my special interest. So I wanted to touch on a few things that you guys brought up in the podcast. One, specifically, Joe, is that URAD blood type, which is correctly identified as the universal receiver for red cells. However, you are the universal donor for plasma products. So plasma, um, platelets, cryoprecipitate, other factors like that that come from plasma, those are all very, very in demand all the time. So they can be used in emergency situations for anyone. Um, a lot of times we see them used in situations for babies, mass transfusions, unknown blood types, etc. So please get out there and donate and do not think that you are not worth our time because you are very, very special to us and we love you. Love you, ABs. Okay, if you have any other questions, definitely let me know. Have a good day. Love you guys. Bye.

SPEAKER_05

Hell yeah. And we have since, I wasn't gonna bring this up on the podcast, but we have since found out where our blood bank is and where we go and how to do all of that. We did follow up after the couple.

SPEAKER_01

The crazy thing was we talked about that, and then a total aside, like my parents don't listen to the podcast, but the next day I talked to them. Well, your dad was it the same day?

SPEAKER_05

It was we recorded and then we got done recording and we called, and your mom was like, Oh, your dad's at the blood bank, he'll be home and like because well, your mom's O negative, isn't she? Yeah, and she has some kind of like special thing in her blood.

SPEAKER_01

Like she's O-negative with a special cofactor. So they basically are like, We'll take as much blood as you can give us.

SPEAKER_05

You can give us, yeah. Because they use it for like babies and they call her to come in as frequently as possible. And then your dad's O-positive. He's O-positive. You you have like a family of just Well, again, I grew up with my family prioritizing donating blood.

SPEAKER_01

Like my dad, you know, there's like those prizes and things. You like you donate so many gallons of blood at some point, and they have little things you get, you know. I I think if you donate enough, you get like a watch sometimes, or we should have done that for days. He's like one of those people that is their superstar of blood donation. He like feels better after he donates blood. I don't know if it's a placebo.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and he used to do doubles, he doesn't now, but you could probably do doubles.

SPEAKER_01

He has Parkinson's, so he has to take it a little bit easy. But yeah, he donates. But that's that's why it was weird to me. I was like, oh, I haven't done that in a long time, and I should figure it out.

SPEAKER_03

We should go.

SPEAKER_01

But good to know that you are also a value. Woo! I won't lie to you. I was like, yeah, your blood is like it, it's cool. You should donate because they can use it and oh, I don't mind to go to useful, but I'm all I'm all for it.

SPEAKER_05

Turns out you're you and I both it's easy for us to get like we're like we're not bothered by needles, we don't pass out, we don't, you know.

SPEAKER_01

We're robust.

SPEAKER_05

We're robust, we're tough, yeah, tough chonky people, but we don't like being uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_01

No, but donating blood's not that uncomfortable. As long as you're not like scared by needles. Yeah, I feel like. Or there are people that pass out and are sensitive to losing.

SPEAKER_05

But they know what they're doing, they can help you with that.

SPEAKER_01

And they have snacks there, that's always fun. Yeah, good snacks, usually. But we found out where our place is. You should find out where your places are, guys.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Just I actually have an acquaintance that I went to college with that was in an absolutely horrific accident last year, and she's now become a huge advocate for giving blood. She had a there was a storm that came through, and a tree fell through her house on top of her, and they gave her blood to save her life on scene under the tree. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because she had to be transfused on site because she was losing that much blood.

SPEAKER_05

The whole thing was crazy. And um the fact that she lived and I saw her a couple weeks ago at uh our reunion, but and she was open, like they loved.

SPEAKER_01

Left her open overnight and stuff. It was crazy.

SPEAKER_05

It was crazy. Um, but she's become a huge advocate for uh donating blood in this area too. And so kind of cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'd love that we have somebody that is knowledgeable. That's always nice when somebody's like, hey, that thing you kind of botched last week. Thanks for bringing it up.

SPEAKER_03

Here's what you were trying to say.

SPEAKER_01

Like, thank God we didn't have to like let that stand on its own. So oh, good stuff. Let's see here.

Digressions Copyright And Too Much Stuff

SPEAKER_01

Okay, we have one more voicemail and we'll see what you got to say.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, Joe and Matt, first time caller, longtime listener. I love watching you guys and all the content you share. I think you're such a bright light in this world of kind of some of these crazy influencers, I guess, out there. Um, and I just love what you guys are doing. So keep it up. Um, I was listening to the podcast last week, and you guys were talking about uh what should be the name of Matt's ranting podcast. And the only thing that could pop into my head and kept going was these are my digressions. So I think you should consider it. Um and yeah, love everything you guys do. Keep it up.

SPEAKER_05

That's incredible. That's good. That would be such a good little like intro song.

SPEAKER_01

That we should we should work on it. As long as you can clear copyright on it, we'll uh we'll try and work that in. I think that's it. I don't know how that works.

SPEAKER_05

I don't either because I feel like people do it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, people definitely do it.

SPEAKER_05

So there's some kind of way.

SPEAKER_01

It was intro. I listened to a whole thing. I think it was a podcast that Weird Ow was on. Or no, it was on The Daily Show, like a week or two ago. But I think with Josh Johnson and talking about he's I think he's doing an album or whatever it is, which by the way, he's been doing music for like 40 years.

SPEAKER_03

That would have been my guess.

SPEAKER_01

But he's very knowledgeable on copyright and parody and that kind of stuff. That makes sense. Yeah, he's always gotten like total clearance and directly gone through the artist, but it is like a gray area, especially in today's day and age where people can use stuff, and there's a lot of people not so much uh getting it cleared, and it kind of has to hit a certain threshold to be. It's a big legal gray area, from my understanding, but he's been above board at this point. People reach out to him to see like if he'll do their songs because I think they get an actual legit bump out of having it. It's kind of an accomplishment to have your song done by Weird Al. Yeah, you know, so that makes sense. Yeah, I think it's also hard. We live in such a crazy world now that like, how do you how do you go over the top with some of this stuff?

SPEAKER_05

But like, how do you find something to say?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like how do you go even more?

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah, that's fair. What's his like biggest ones that we would know? Amish, Amish uh Paradise. Amish Paradise. Yeah, I remember that from high school or middle school.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Amish.

SPEAKER_05

Uh is it that what it is? Amish paradise?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, from Gangster's Paradise.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's that's a huge one. I'm trying to think of what else. This is another thing where somebody's probably losing their mind listening to us.

SPEAKER_05

But Amish Paradise is his number one.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Captain Underpants theme song is listed as his number two. Oh, White and Nerdy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, white and nerdy. That's huge. Yeah. That 2000s era.

SPEAKER_05

Party in the CIA.

SPEAKER_01

Not familiar with that one.

SPEAKER_05

Polka face.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. He's like an accomplished accordion player. Very good accordion player. That's what he grew up. He could learn guitar or accordion. And he chose accordion. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. That's something you would do.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

So he's like a polka guy.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I had all the weird hobbies.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You'd still, I mean, I feel like you've left some of that behind, but cup stacking.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think I've really left it behind. No. I'm learning how many weird hobbies I have as everybody is moving into this slower living, hobby-based, you know, that's really trending right now. People are going uh minimal. Analog. Analog. People are going analog with everything, is what they're saying. And so people are picking up knitting and crocheting and sewing and yeah, a lot of that stuff. And as everything has come up, I'm like, oh yeah. People are like, oh, are you learning to do that? And I'm like, no, I know how to do that.

SPEAKER_01

No, I did it when it was super not cool.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I've been exactly. But I don't know how to crochet. That's one that I don't know how to do.

SPEAKER_01

Which one is crochet?

SPEAKER_05

The single hook.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Knittings, two needles, not needles, like a cross stitch or a different hook thing.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I did that for a second.

SPEAKER_05

Latch hook, latch, I uh I know what you're talking about. Like loop, like loom?

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't know. Maybe I'm thinking of crochet, but I don't think it's crochet. I think crochet is a different thing. And I did for a period of time, I did some kind of you had like a tool and it has a hook and a thing. I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

Is it just the hook and yarn?

SPEAKER_01

And like a grid deal.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. You're talking about cross-stitch? Like some kind of, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

For sure. I mean, that could be cross-stitch, yes.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I again clearly it didn't soak in real well. No. But there was a period of time I was trying that out.

SPEAKER_05

I've cross-stitched. I still really would love to cross-stitch the kids' uh embroider? No, cross-stitch. Cross-stitch, okay. Uh each of them a uh stocking. Stocking, yes. But they're really time consuming. And it's a lot. Yeah. A lot. Part of it is just how disorganized I am in this season of my life. I feel like until I get that under control, taking on projects like that actually makes me feel even more out of control.

SPEAKER_01

Just a bunch of loose thread.

SPEAKER_05

Well, it's not that as much.

SPEAKER_01

The slowness, like just not the slowness.

SPEAKER_05

It's that I don't have anywhere to store the project when I'm not working on it. So then, and it's something that I'm not gonna finish in a week. No, you know, it's a six-month project.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And I don't have not that I need like a dedicated space, it's not like that. Um you just want it to have a home, and you don't feel like that's and I don't feel like most things in my house have a home right now, and I feel very overwhelmed by that. That's fair. So introducing more projects with more parts to then make it more crazy. I just I can't.

SPEAKER_01

So you love living with me. Yeah, always a new project, always a new piece of something.

SPEAKER_05

That part's really hard for me.

SPEAKER_01

It's really hard. I'm working on it.

SPEAKER_05

And you are working on it, but uh any given day there are just parts everywhere for things. And you're always holding on to stuff, but I've never seen you use something you've held on to.

SPEAKER_01

Once in a while.

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Out in this project, I've done lots of stuff that I had held on to, but the point stands, and it's very, very, very, very, very valid that I have too much stuff and like to start new hobbies that require more stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Sometimes the stuff is what activates me, and I don't love that about myself.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And I I could be a minimalist.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the the stuff makes you die in some.

SPEAKER_05

I'm wearing the same pants that I've worn for the last four five years.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I I'm using the same water bottle that I've had since this top came out. So actually, not that water. I was gonna say that's the newer bottom, but um but I don't, I don't know. Stuff stresses me out.

SPEAKER_01

I've I've grown significantly in that department with you.

SPEAKER_05

But yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Deep down, I still have stuff.

SPEAKER_05

I was about to say, I don't feel like you've minimized it all.

SPEAKER_01

I'm very it's hard for me to get rid of things. That's the point.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you haven't gotten rid of hardly anything.

SPEAKER_01

I've done a better job not accumulating things.

SPEAKER_05

Absolutely. I would agree with that.

SPEAKER_01

But I'm not getting rid of the stuff at a good pace.

SPEAKER_05

You're not when was the last time you got rid of something?

SPEAKER_01

Uh it's like I'm working through the office in the laundry room. There's stuff I'm getting rid of.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Yeah. I love that. Good.

SPEAKER_01

Partial containers and that kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Trash.

SPEAKER_05

I I want to do your closet so bad. And we're hitting a point where I'm almost like, you know what? I know what he doesn't wear. And I'm about to just get in there and throw stuff away. But I, it's funny because Matt has come in when I'm doing my closet, and it's a beating because as I'm getting rid of stuff, Matt's like, oh, but you really like that. Oh, but you could wear that for this. And I'm like, stop.

SPEAKER_01

I have to leave. It's a go. See it happening, and you're just like, you gotta get out of here. Don't you're like, I have a hard enough time with this myself. Please don't come in here and you do a good job.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But you at this point you have so many things, and a lot of them you really do love. A lot of them are things that you enjoy and are excited about, but you have too much.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And you'd rather someone else really love it and use it because you don't get to use it as much as you would want to.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And that's great. But then I'm like, but it's great, you love it. Why get rid of it?

SPEAKER_05

And I'm gonna love seeing someone else wear it.

SPEAKER_01

Totally. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

My friends are decked out in my clothes.

SPEAKER_01

Love.

SPEAKER_05

And it's perfect.

SPEAKER_01

It is, it's great. At the very least, a lot of times we're like, hey, they're there for now, to be clear. And then if you go donate it for us, that's consider that the uh repayment.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Because we're not doing a good job of getting it to where it needs to go.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_01

So on that note, on that note, let's wrap it up.

Wrap Up And How To Reach Us

SPEAKER_03

Wrap it up.

SPEAKER_01

Rate, review, subscribe, all the stuff. Do the things. Yeah. Send us emails, voicemails. We have lots of availability to chat to you guys. So chat to you. Jesus Christ. See, this is what I'm saying. I can't say anything quite right today. Chat with you guys. Answer questions, comments, concerns. Maybe not concerns. I don't know. Feel like we got enough concerns on our own.

SPEAKER_05

Can't take constructive feedback. So just give him compliments. That makes him uncomfortable too.

SPEAKER_01

I'm working on that. I've been doing better.

SPEAKER_05

You have.

SPEAKER_01

Mainly because I've gotten to a point where I reject compliments so much that I think it makes other people uncomfortable. They're like, what's wrong with this guy? And that discomfort is what motivates me to be like.

SPEAKER_05

To be clear, I was saying yes to the first part, not the what's wrong with this guy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, no, no, no. I know. That's my own.

SPEAKER_05

You you kept going, and then I was like, ooh, I said yes too soon.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not a judgment on other people, it's a judgment of myself by myself. Or us by us. But um anyway, we'll talk to you next week.

SPEAKER_04

Bye.
